One of our organization's mandate is to provide financial scholarships to students at the school. The J. Barbara Martin Scholarship was approved by Mrs. Martin as the scholarship of choice by the Canadian Past Students' Association for needy students who embodied her principles.
The sponsorship covers the students' school fees, books, and uniform from Grade 8 (2nd form) through to Grade 11 (5th form).
Each year, students apply to the school's assigned selection panel, which in turn screens the applicants for eligibility.
The Spirit of J. Barbara Martin lives on...
The names of the four students who most closely match the criteria for selection are forwarded to the committee in Canada. The committee then analyses all the applications and makes the final choice of one student for the scholarship.
This student is then presented with a scholarship in November at the school's annual Prize-Giving ceremony. Based on finances, one-time or ongoing bursaries are sometimes given to the runners-up.
There are currently 5 scholarship and 4 ongoing bursary recipients, including one scholarship recipient sponsored by the Victoria Mutual Building Society.
